Stewardship is ALIVE at Sacred Heart
We Are The Disciples of Christ

Prayer is essential to the life of a Christian Steward.
Our prayer helps us to be better aware of God’s goodness in our lives.
Prayer is also essential to one’s conversion and continues to challenge us to be better Christians.

Stewardship Prayer
It helps, now and then, to step back and take a long view.
The kingdom is not only beyond our efforts,
it is even beyond our vision.
We accomplish in our lifetime only a tiny fraction
of the magnificent enterprise that is God’s work.
Nothing we do is complete, which is a way of saying
that the kingdom always lies beyond us.
No statement says all that could be said.
No prayer fully expresses our faith.
No confession brings perfection.
No pastoral visit brings wholeness.
No program accomplishes the church’s mission.
No set of goals and objectives includes everything.
This is what we are about.
We plant the seeds that one day will grow.
We water seeds already planted,
knowing that they hold future promise.
We lay foundations that will need further development.
We provide yeast that produces far beyond our capabilities.
We cannot do everything, and there is a sense of liberation
in realizing that. This enables us to do something,
and to do it very well. It may be incomplete,
but it is a beginning, a step along the way,
an opportunity for the Lord’s grace to enter and do the rest.
We may never see the end results, but that is the difference
between the master builder and the worker.
We are workers, not master builders; ministers, not messiahs.
We are prophets of a future not our own.
Amen.
- Archbishop Oscar Romero (b. August 15, 1917)

We are thankful for all the good stewardship efforts we see at Sacred Heart. We have an active Stewardship Committee that welcomes new members. Please contact Nancy at 234-4996

STEWARDS OF THE MONTH

Agnes Sullivan

Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Mt. 25:21

At 90,
She's Not Slowing Down

For a lady who has passed her ninetieth birthday,
Agnes Sullivan shows no signs of slowing down when it comes to being a good Steward of Sacred Heart Parish.

This Steward of the Month for November attends daily Mass and has been an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist since lay people were allowed to distribute Holy Communion.

The mother of four sons and four daughters,
Agnes has taken Communion to hospitalized parishioners
at Allen Memorial Hospital for many years.
In addition to reading the Scriptures at daily Mass,
it is also Agnes's voice you hear as the rosary leader prior to Mass.

A long-time member of Court Castile 49
of the Catholic Daughter of the Americas,
this month's Steward  also is a rosary leader for the Court
when a member dies.

Agnes Sullivan is a prime example of the good Steward
who keeps on serving and doesn't stop.
