Stewardship is ALIVE at Sacred Heart
We Are The Disciples of Christ

Prayer is essential to the life of a Christian Steward. Our prayer helps us to be better aware of God’s goodness in our lives.
Prayer is also essential to one’s conversion and continues to challenge us to be better Christians.
Lent is the liturgical season that helps us prepare for the Passion of Christ.
Many times people like to do something special, especially in the area of prayer, to help them set apart this season from the ordinary. Below is a list of possible ideas that could be incorporated into daily household routines.
During this Lenten season let us allow ourselves the opportunity to grow closer to our baptismal call.

* Write a Family Prayer while sharing a meal. Use this prayer during Lent.

* Teach your family how to pray the Rosary. Come together once a week to pray Rosary.

* Develop a routine for children to do chores around the house and contribute their earnings toward the Habitat for Humanity Roof project.

* Embrace a fasting routine in your life during Lent to bring you closer to God.

During this Easter season let us give ourselves the opportunity
to grow closer to our baptismal call.

Stewardship Prayer
Generous and loving God, You call us to be disciples of your Son Jesus
and good stewards of all your many gifts.
Open our minds and hearts to a greater awareness and deeper appreciation of your countless blessings.
Transform us through the power of your Spirit
to nurture a Stewardship way of life marked by faith-filled prayer,
service to our neighbor and generous sharing.
Teach us to be faithful servants of your gifts.
With Mary’s help, may we return ten-fold the gifts entrusted to us.
Bless our Sacred Heart parish with a deepening devotion to prayer,
a growing commitment for service,
and increasing levels of generosity
as we work to advance the mission of our parish.
We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen

We are thankful for all the good stewardship efforts we see at Sacred Heart. We have an active Stewardship Committee that welcomes new members. Please contact Cathy Mills 234-6593 ext 208 if interested in hearing more about this vibrant area of parish life.

SACRED HEART STEWARD OF THE MONTH

JIM and JO BOWES

Well done, good and faithful servants.”
(Mt. 25:21)

Their Stewardship is
A Generational Belief

For Sacred Heart Stewards of the Month for April,
Sacred Heart Parish is their family.
They have shared the good and the not-so-good, the
tragedies and the blessings with their co-parishioners.
Thirty-year members, Jim and Jo Bowes shy at the limelight and prefer to be in the background where their stewardship is given in private.

Both serve as Eucharistic Ministers and Jo is a lector
and launders the robes of the priest and servers.
She is past chairperson of the Parish Council and a current member.
Jim is chairperson of the Finance Committee
and was a member of the original Archdiocesan Stewardship Committee. He also gave six years to the Archdiocesan Board of Education.

It is evident, though, that their longest lasting devotion is to
the Social Concerns Committee, where for 20 years they have been involved in Food Sunday, gathering casseroles bi-annually for the
Catholic Worker House, the Gifting Tree at Christmas,
and the bi-annual clothing drives.
These parents, who are both John Deere employees,
believe it is important to set examples for their children
and are following their own parents in giving to those less fortunate.
The Bowes' children are now third-generation stewards;
Kristy Bowes Riordan is a nursing student;
Amy Bowes was a Peace Corps volunteer in Africa and is currently a graduate student at the University of Missouri and
Alex Bowes is a graduate of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design
and is a film maker.
"We have all learned through the years that God will provide
if we take care of those less fortunate," Jo explains this family's commitment to stewardship.
