Special Parish Celebration for our Pastor
Come celebrate the 35th Anniversary of Priestly Ordination with our pastor, Fr. Lou Jaeger on Sunday, March 30th. Gather for Sunday Mass at 10:45am and then attend an Open House/Reception in O'Hagan Hall from 12:00noon-2:00pm. Help Fr. Lou remember and celebrate his ministry!


Parish Registration Information:

We invite anyone interested in knowing more about Sacred Heart Parish to contact our parish office at 319-234-4996. A staff member will be happy to answer any of your questions and/or make an appointment with you to register as a parish member. Office hours are 9:00am-4:00pm Monday-Friday.

Tuesday, March 18: 2:00pm Archdiocesan Chrism Mass at St. Mary Church in Manchester
Holy Thursday, March 20: 5:30 Mass of the Lord's Supper
Good Friday, March 21: 5:30 Good Friday Service with Veneration of the Cross & Communion
Holy Saturday, March 22: 8:00pm Easter Vigil
Easter Sunday, March 23: 8:15 & 10:45 Masses

Join Fr. Lou during your lunch hour to pray the
Stations of the Cross, an important lenten prayer tradition.
Fridays: Mar. 7, 14 at 12:10pm in the church.



First Communion Bread Party: Sunday, March 2nd

Families are invited to attend 10:45am Mass, followed by our traditional "Bread Party" in the dining room.

Confirmation Class: March 9th
Candidates and their sponsors should plan to participate in the final parish session before the metro celebration of Confirmation on April 4th. The session will be held in O'Hagan Hall from 9:15-10:45am.


Little Rock Scripture Series : Final Weeks
A Little Rock Scripture Study series on “Women in the New Testament” will meet on Tuesday mornings from 9 to 10:30 am in O’Hagan Hall. This series will conclude with sessions on March 4, 11, & 18th. Walk ins are also welcome.


M.O.M.S. (Ministry of Mothers Sharing)
All "Moms" who have completed this program in the past are invited to join the current MOMS group at their celebration dinner on March 25th at
6:00pm in O'Hagan Hall. The presenters' topic is
"Seasons of Change".

Also: Saturday, March 8th: Ladies Night Out
"Game Night" at 6:30pm in O'Hagan Hall - ALL parish women are invited to come!


Vacation Bible School 2008

Get ready for another fabulous week in June (dates will be determined based on the date summer vacation begins). The theme is
"Power Lab: Discovering Jesus' Miraculous Power". Children ages 5-10 are invited to participate. VBS is held at Blessed Sacrament Parish and is a shared program among Sacred Heart, Blessed Sacrament, and Queen of Peace parishes. Watch the bulletin in May for the registration/information flyer. You won't want to miss this great experience for kids!



RCRA (Rite of Christian Reception of Adults) for non-Catholics interested in joining the Catholic Church will be held Sundays, Feb. 17-April 20th, 10:00am in St. Matthew Room (rectory basement) at St. Edward Parish. (No registration)

Rite of Christian Reception for adults who have been baptized, fully catechized, and active in a Christian tradition requires Pre-registration with Pam Johnston 234-8394)
