Sacred Heart School Parent-Teacher-Child Conference Sign-up will take place the weekend of October 18/19 in the school lunch room. Parents are asked to sign-up for a conference time that is convenient for your family. Conferences are scheduled for Oct. 27, 28, & 30.
Annual "Trunk or Treat" Event is planned for Saturday, October 25th. Families are invited to attend 5:30 Mass - with the children in costume. They will then be able to move safely through our parking lot AND the Methodist Church lot to "Trunk or Treat". Apple cidar will also be served. Please remember to choose or design costumes that are not "violent" or "evil" in nature if the children are wearing them to Mass. Thanks.
Clothing Giveaway: Saturday, October 25th from 1:00-3:00pm in O'Hagan Hall. Donations of winter clothing that are in good condition may be dropped off in the church basement from Oct. 20-23 between 9:00am - 3:30pm. If the church is locked, stop at the rectory for help. We are especially in need of coats, boots, balnkets, sweaters in adult and children's sizes.
The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick
will be celebrated on Sunday, October 19th at the 8:15 Mass. Refreshments will be served in the Jubilee entrance following Mass. Fr. Lyle Wilgenbusch will assist Fr. Lou with the anointing. If you wish to be anointed and are in need of transportation, please call Paul or Jeanne at 232-1206.
Baptism Class
Monday, October 13th at 7:00pm. Hosted by St. Edward Parish. Call the rectory to register for this class 234-4996.
All Souls Memorial Mass
Annual Candlelight Memorial Mass Sunday Nov. 2, 2008 at
10:45 am Mass. All Sacred Heart parishioners who have died in the past year (since Nov. 1, 2007) will be remembered in a special way at this Mass. The liturgy will begin with a candlelight procession. Families are invited to designate one person to carry a candle in remembrance of the deceased loved one. Those joining the
procession are invited to gather in the church basement (O’Hagan Hall) at 10:30 am.
Parishioners who have lost loved ones in the past year, from outside the parish, may also join the candlelight procession. Please call the names of the non-parish deceased to be remembered to the parish office 234-4996.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our parish family to pray for the
deceased and to provide comfort and support to our grieving members. ALSO: You may choose to attend . . .

Holidays can be particularly difficult for those
who grieve the loss of a loved one.
Nancy Rigel, Parish Nurse &
Spiritual Counselor for Cedar Valley Hospice,
will offer suggestions on handling grief during the
Holidays.
All are welcome and no registration is required.
The annual Candlelight Memorial Mass will follow
at 10:45 am.

learning more about the Catholic faith, please give

personally invite them to attend an information
session on
Sunday, September 7th at 9:30am OR
Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 6:30pm at
Blessed Sacrament, Putz Hall (rectory basement). You
need attend ONLY ONE information session. This
meeting will explain more about the adult initiation
process, answer questions, and outline the schedule.
Inquirers are not pressured to make any commitment at
this meeting. Friends and spouses are also welcome to
attend.

topic is patience. All impatient married couples are
welcome.
IMMIGRATION
FORUM -- Miryam Antunez de
Mayolo and Dr. Mark Grey discuss the myths and
language of immigration: Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 7:00pm in
the East High School Auditorium. First in a series of
forums, "Moving Beyond What I Think I Know About
Immigration" which will be held on Tuesday evenings
