Lent begins February 25th.
The three-fold mission of Lent:
Prayer
Fasting
Almsgiving
Fast & Abstinence Regulations
1)
Catholics who are 14 years of age or older are
required to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and
all Fridays of Lent.
2) Catholics who are 18 to 59 years of age
are required to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good
Friday.
This means that only one full meal is allowed on
these days,
and we may not eat between meals.
* Those with medical and other health issues are
excused from these
requirements and are encouraged to substitute other
acts of penance,
works of charity, and prayer.
Raise the
Roof
Lenten Parish Project
Sacred
Heart School & Religious Education families
invite the entire parish to help "Raise the Roof"
this lent.
We have
adopted a Habitat for Humanity house located at 334
Wyoming Street that is being built for a needy
family. Our goal is to provide the materials for the
roof. Donations are being earned by children doing
extra chores or tasks at home or for
friends/relatives. Many adults are making monetary
contributions as well. Please join us in this special
lenten project! Donations may be placed in envelopes
and dropped in the collection baskets at Mass or
dropped off at the school. Please mark your envelope
with "Raise the Roof Project". You may also choose to
bring your donations to 5:30 Mass on Holy Thursday
because the collection that day is designated for the
poor. Thanks for your participation!!
