Raise the Roof
Lenten Parish Project

Sacred Heart School & Religious Education families invite the entire parish to help "Raise the Roof" this lent.
We have adopted a Habitat for Humanity house located at 334 Wyoming Street that is being built for a needy family. Our goal is to provide the materials for the roof. Donations are being earned by children doing extra chores or tasks at home or for friends/relatives. Many adults are making monetary contributions as well. Please join us in this special lenten project! Donations may be placed in envelopes and dropped in the collection baskets at Mass or dropped off at the school. Please mark your envelope with "Raise the Roof Project". You may also choose to bring your donations to 5:30 Mass on Holy Thursday because the collection that day is designated for the poor. Thanks for your participation!!

C.O.R.E. Orientation: Wednesday, April 15th
6:30-8:00pm at CHS

In the Waterloo area, several parishes pool our resources in order to offer a quality religion program for Catholic students attending public high schools. The name of the program is C.O.R.E. (Cooperative Opportunities in Religious Education). This program offers the same religion courses that are part of the Columbus curriculum and are presented in a more condensed version. The classes are all taught by qualified Catholic religion teachers.

To familiarize you with C.O.R.E., we are gathering all area 8th graders who are not planning to attend Columbus, for an information meeting and orientation. We expect that parents will want to attend with your son/daughter to receive all the information. Please read the enclosed flyer carefully. Parents and students will be meeting with religious education leaders who will share some thoughts on high school faith formation. You will also hear our C.O.R.E. Coordinator, Becky Keeling, and Youth Minister, Kim Huff, tell about their experiences and opportunities in the program. There will be an opportunity to observe a Youth Ministry Activity in action and visit classrooms that evening.

CCD students/parents should plan to
go directly to Columbus High School that evening.
There will be NO regular CCD classes for the eighth graders.

First Communion Practice & Photo Session
Thursday, April 16th at 6:00pm in the church.

Children should come dressed in their First Communion clothing.
You will have an opportunity for both a group photo and individual photos by Cole Photography.
