Volleyball Ends - Boys Basketball season is now under way

The Varsity Girls Volleyball Team ended their season finishing 4th in the league tournament. All games played were very close. Tha Cardinals advanced past the quarterfinals defeating St. John's in 3 games. Next the team had to play Blessed Sacrament who had previously defeated the Cardinals two times in the regular season, the match went to the final 3rd game and again Blessed Sacrament came out on top. In the game for 3rd with St. Pat's the Cardinals also played 3 very close games but went down to defeat. Overall the team finished with an 9-6 record. Congratulations to the team and coaches on a fine season.
The Varsity Boys Basketball Team opened their season with the league jamboree on Saturday Oct. 25. All league schools played several halves of basketball gaining experience on the court under game conditions. The Cardinals played against St. Athanasius and St. John's. The team ended up on the short end of each half score, but showed definite improvement from the 1st half played to the second half. The team opens the regular season at St. John's on Monday Nov. 3. The Football team who played with the boys from Blessed Sacrament finished their season on Sunday. This new adventure for both schools was a season of adjusting to new teammates, coaches and techniques. Although the team did not win a game they showed good progress and had a lot of fun during the course of the season. Girls are now getting set to begin their respective volleyball tournaments. The 6th grade tournament was held on Oct. 11 and our girls were the tournament champions. The JV tournament is Saturday Oct. 18 at St. Pat's and the Varsity tournament begins next Monday at St. John's. Basketball for boys in 6th thru 8th grade will begins practice on Thursday Oct. 16. Winter game schedules for all sports will be posted on the respective sport by Friday Oct. 17.
