Cardinals 18 Spartans 14
In the most exciting game of the season Sacred Heart was victorious over previously undefeated St. Ed's 18-14. The Cardinals took an early 6-0 lead when Craig Konrardy ran a quarterback keeper around left end for a 70 yard score. In the second quarter the Cardinals were again on the board with a 40 yard pass play to Austin Ross giving the Cardinals a 12-0 halftime lead. Things looked good at the start of the 3rd quarter as the Spartans fumbled the kickoff and gave the ball back to Sacred Heart, however the offense could not move the ball and turned it over to St. Ed's. A few plays later St. Ed' scored on a nice pass to close to 12-7. After receiving the kickoff the Cardinals were unable to move the ball and on the punt the snap went over the kickers head to give the Spartans excellent field position at the 50. On the next play the Spartans scored on a 50 yard run to take the lead 14-12. With 5 minutes remaining in the game the Cardinals began a touchdown drive beginning at their own 35. With several key 3rd and 4th down plays the Cardinals moved the ball to the 4 yard line. On a 4th down play Ausin Ross took the ball in for the winning touchdown. With less that a minute left Skylar Kemp intercepted a Spartan pass at mid-field to seal the victory. This puts the Cardinals at 3 - 2 and in the playoffs for the 1st time and 3 seasons.
